About

Hi, I'm Annaleise.

I'm an Accredited Practising Dietitian based in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, working with women online across Australia. I help women who've tried every diet build something that finally sticks.

Women have been failed twice.

First by diet culture: eat less, count everything, cut the bread, start again on Monday. Then by wellness culture: scan the label, avoid the oil, buy the powder.

The second one isn't wrong, it's just out of order. Nobody needs to worry about seed oils before they're eating breakfast. Most of the women I see are chasing the last 1% before they've had a chance to get the first 80% right.

That's why I started Kindling. Fundamentals first, fine-tuning later. Small changes, in the right order, that you'll still be doing in ten years. No meal plans, no food rules, and no starting again on Monday.

What I believe

"The healthiest weight for you is the one you can hold while still living your life."
"Restriction is a tool, not a way of life."
"You're not eating to be smaller. You're eating to live."

How I work

Four things you can expect when we work together.

The right order

Fundamentals first: eating enough, eating early, protein, fibre and sleep. Then the specific fixes. The trends get their turn once the basics hold.

Permission, from someone qualified

Yes, you can eat the bread. And yes, some processed foods are helping you. I'll tell you which ones, and why.

Changes that stick

One or two changes at a time, kept until they're automatic. Digestible, systematic change rather than an overhaul you'll abandon in three weeks.

A peer, not a lecturer

We'll talk about your sleep, your stress and your week, not just your plate. No judgement, and no feeling like you've failed for being human.

Where I'm strongest

These are the areas I know best, and the ones I read about for fun.

Gut health

Bloating, constipation, IBS, and getting foods back after years of cutting them out.

Cycle health

Irregular or painful periods and PCOS, with evidence rather than supplement marketing.

Perimenopause

When what used to work stops working, and doing more of it makes things worse.

I support women with a difficult relationship with food, and I'll always refer on to specialist eating disorder care when that's what you need. Care is open to people of all genders, bodies and identities.

Off the plate

Same books, same shows, same breakfast struggles.

When I'm not with clients you'll usually find me with a Sarah J. Maas book and a very full breakfast, or learning to surf. I also run talks and workshops for studios, teams and clubs on the Sunshine Coast.
